I am an independent dance artist from Cape Town, South Africa. I studied dance at the University of Cape Town and completed my Masters in Choreography at Rhodes University in 2013. I have worked professionally with South African companies such as First Physical Theatre Company, FTH:K Theatre Company, Underground Dance Theatre and with acclaimed choreographer Nicola Elliott. I have taught dance at the University of Cape Town, Rhodes University, AFDA Cape Town, and regularly teach Contact Improvisation and composition classes in Cape Town and Amsterdam.

Since 2018 I direct the MusicDance Performance Residency in Cape Town with Manuela Lucia Tessi. At the heart of this project is the goal to create a platform for artists from diverse cultures, backgrounds and disciplines to come together to share artistic and embodied practice towards the creation of radical new performance. www.musicdance.net

For several years I have been refining my professional practice by developing skills in improvisation technique and real-time composition - as a teaching methodology and choreographic approach. Particularly I have been following the work of Katie Duck, Julyen Hamilton, Nancy Stark Smith, Lily Kiara and Manuela Lucia Tessi. I frequently collaborate in projects with other performing artists and musicians, expanding my own practice and discovering new opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange.

I have recently been involved in several dance performances for children which I have enjoyed very much. I recently directed the project TAH DAM! A performance for children under 6years old which incorporates African and Western music and dance. www.tahdam.com
